Have you ever purchased more greens than you could eat, juice or make smoothies with before they got all weird looking? Or have you juiced kale and looked at all that beautiful pulp and said to yourself “there has to be something I can do with this!”? Well you’re in luck because today’s blog is just for you. These are two quick and easy ways to be sure that you DON’T THROW OUT THAT KALE!
MAKE KALE ICE CUBES
If your kale (or any other green you have purchased) has started to become wilted, drying, slimy or just weird looking you can save it with this trick! Put the kale in your high powered blender with a cup of water and blend. Pour into ice trays and let freeze overnight. Now you can add these awesome green cubes to your morning smoothie or to a veggie soup recipe!
SAUTE’ THE PULP FROM YOUR JUICE
I have always thought about doing this, but my wonderful husband brought the idea to life and it was delicious! While making our morning juice he paused after juicing all the kale and said “man this pulp needs to be turned into something! I’m throwing it in a pan with some onions and olive oil.” And that’s just what he did!
He also put a dash of Himalayan pink salt, pepper and Bragg’s Liquid Aminos. From that point on we have separated each juice ingredient to see what we can repurpose it in next. You can also freeze the contents in Ziploc bags until you figure it out.
